Coach Andrew

Coach Andrew is our brown belt coach who began his grappling journey under the instruction of his Coach, Professor, Mentor, Friend of the Club, Pete who has graded him at each belt. He is a Level 1 Coach under the Wrestling Foundation and heads up our wrestling program. His welcoming and warm demeanour is well regarded among beginner and child students alike.
Andrew enjoys the technical aspects of jiu-jitsu and has a cerebral approach to the art. Andrew isn’t strong or athletic so he believes in the adage that technique conquers all. He loves jiu-jitsu.

Andrew teaches Tuesday nights at the club and can be found on the mats in most sessions. If you’re messaging the club, you are probably speaking to him.

Brofessor Pete

Peter is not only the owner and operator of Redfern Grappling Club as well as co-founder of United Grappling Clubs, he also teaches both Thursdays and Saturdays at the club.

Having begun his Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu journey while living in England under the tutelage of the GOAT, Roger Gracie, he returned to our shores developing into an extremely intelligent grappler with an aptitude for instruction. He blends his black belt knowledge with a professional background in teaching to provide both our Adults and Kids classes valuable techniques, skills and mindsets.

Come and experience his first class instruction at Hills Grappling Club or Redfern Grappling Club. Pete is also available for private lessons to take your level of jiu-jitsu and understanding to the next level.

Josh

Josh is widely recognised as one of the best competitive jiu-jitsu athletes in Sydney. He is a veteran of the professional jiu-jitsu event series “Subversion” and has won medals at all major domestic tournaments as well doing as so in international competitions. He works with Australia’s best grapplers as well as us. We’re very pleased to have Josh run our Tuesday and Wednesday night classes that dive deep into technique, making sure we’re all constantly improving our jiu-jitsu techniques and mindset.

Dave “Disco” Kennedy

Dave is our talisman. An agent for good and a man with an unwavering ethic. You will find Dave’s face and name on many pieces of our merch because he is representative of every member of the Club. He shows up and does the work. What Dave lacks in willingness to try different foods he makes up for in willingness to embrace the pressure and grind. What a guy.

Jake Nicholls

You’ll find Jake on the mats more nights than not. His focus and dedication to the art is unrivalled with a great jiu-jitsu mind. Jake runs Monday night’s no gi class and is steward of the open mat. If he hasn’t seen the instructional then I doubt it exists.
